Well, why do you think we have so many troops, military supplies, and bases in the Middle East? To secure the suppy of corn? In any case, we could argue the finer points of the Gulf War in 1991 for days. If you don't think it was about securing the oil supplies in the region, I have bridge in Brooklyn I could sell you.

we have never used our military to acquire oil. If we had, we would own it and not have to pay other countries for it.

That all might change soon if we attack Iraq and take over their oil supplies militarily as Bush is proposing. Iraq's oil only cost $1.50 per barrel to produce. The oil companies must be salivating over controlling those cheap oil supplies.
