Of course it doesnt. Religion is a means used by leaders to keep folks in place. Classic way is to promise a great afterlife after a sucky existance caused by that very ruler for his benefit. So arab leaders use both islam and nationalism that way. Terrorist like bin laden do much the same to gain and keep control. mike

Let's us know how it is when your done. I recently finished K. Pollack's The Threatening Storm which is an excellent read and just cracked open Friedman's From Beirut to Jerusalem.

just ran across this book, Liberal Islam, and am ordering it today.
