<<The other driving factor is health insurance. Since a great many people have it, they don't see the real cost of the drug>>

That is my problem. Since I only pay 5 bucks I just have no idea how many people are being killed with monthly maintenance

The other driving factor is health insurance. Since a great many people have it, they don't see the real cost of the drug- -or any of the cost at all. That removes a prime potential force for driving the price down.

this is true.

over-utilization is a prime reason for the unaffordability of insurance.

i really can't imagine what the cost will be to taxpayer will be once medicare has a full prescription drug benefit.

We subsidize the rest of the world. If we controlled drug costs then there would not be a lot of new drug development. The rest of the world can get the benefit of new drugs and controlled costs because we pay the cost of development. There are some similarities to how countries friendly to us can have low defense spending because we protect them.
