Saddam screwed the pooch when he kept trying to develop nuclear weapons. Anthrax is one thing, nuclear weapons are another.

And whilst he is kept "pinned in" he will continue to murder and torture entire families and neighbourhoods. He will continue to starve the unfavoured parts of the population under the "smarter sanctions." But, of course, this isn't the same as the "devastation of war" and we certainly won't have invoked it. Right? I think we've had this conversation already, Frank, and had to agree to disagree. But perhaps I'm wrong. Briefly put, I agree with most of the Mearshimear and Walts article which argues containment can work, did work. That's the short of it.
