>The total cost of the "WAR" - this is bullshit people - wake up and smell the coffee - not lull yourself to sleep watching the boob tube footage on the newsreels controlled by our military and White House. This so called 'War" will cost the U.S. $400 to $500 billion dollars over the next ten years!!!

Yeah, you're probably right, except for the whole media conspiracy theory thing... that's just a little warped.

>Bush wants to be treated as a King in total control of Congress, the White House and the courts and all of us his poor loyal subjects. He is a blaspheme to any honest Republican who ever breathed the words "balanced budget" or anything close to it. This man from Texas is going to ruin American business and our standing in the World as the leader of capitalism. Bush is not leading Capitalism - he is leading a state socialist War Machine!

Bit of an alarmist, eh?

You a McCain man?

Youre right, it is bullshit. The war and its aftermath, if it is confined to Iraq, not the whole war on terrorism, is around 200 bill. at the most. I would contend, that once the oilfields are rebuilt, Iraq would have enough income to pay for itself. So, once a new gov. is established, they should declare bankruptcy, get rid of Saddams old debts, and then Iraq will easily be able to support a trippling of GDP/ person, without any outside income.

Secondly, the Marshall plan and WWII cost far more than that in todays terms. And the Marshall plan probably was our greatest investment as a nation; even if Europe weaseled out of repaying us. Why would you think the middle east won't be worth it, if demcracy works.

Thirdly, 9/11 cost us trillions in stock market losses alone. The $200 billion would be cheap, if it can stabilize the region. And there is a certain cost in containing Saddam, for anther 30 - 50 yrs, if his sons take over, which will easily be greater than the cost of rebuilding Iraq now. In addition, a 1% loss in the growth rate, costs us 100 billion/ yr. Our economy is going to stagnate until Iraq is settled. We are far better economically to get it over with quickly.

Bush wants to be treated as a King in total control of Congress, the White House and the courts and all of us his poor loyal subjects.

What is your point. After, he was elected president. If you don't like him, vote for another in 04.
