Picky point. I've heard Scotsmen in Scotland and blacks in Costa Rica who I knew were speaking English, but I couldn't understand a word.

English is rife with variant pronunciations. It's so bad that it's hard to say there IS a correct pronunciation. If his name were Nelson Mandela, would HIS variant pronunciations be a problem? How about Jimmy Carter?

Does this mean the President of Tanzania is an ignoramus?

If you expect me to accord these people respect in spite of what I would consider variant pronunciations, you had best give it to others.

Yeah, it's southern pronunciation. There's nothing in the Constitution that says a southerner can't be President.

I wouldn't touch that with Gloop's pole. :-)
