join the us army, visit strange new lands, meet new people ,then kill them.i do not see how we could take their oil and leave saddam in place,i do not see how saddam could let us take his oil with out resisting.he would lose too much face.I think he would rather die a hero of islam than live as a spineless worm.If he could inflict one big strike against the US he would gain immortality in the eyes of arabs even should it cost him his life and the life of many of his country men.

control Iraqi oil, and you unleash dogs of Islamic mayhem

they will attack and disrupt Saudi oil flow
they will destabilize and perhaps assassinate Saudi leaders
they will engage in new terrorist acts in USA and England
they will attack Gulf Sheikdoms supporting US forces
they might attack Alaskan pipeline, totally unguarded

so few in this country evaluate the repercussions
retaliation will occur in Middle East and Europe and NoAmerica

like an oil embargo against the USA again
simple stuff like that
the energy tax on our economy will affect Q1 and Q2 earnings
and might easily tip our economy into flat zone or recession
