As one of the conservatives on this thread: The war is more justifiable than ever. Even today, knowing that war is just around the corner, Saddam is playing the UN like a grand piano. They look like damned fools. The war will start any day, it is certainly a worthwhile undertaking, and is a result of true leadership in the White House. They are reduced to calling anyone who objects to their view a traitor So far as I'm aware, the word "they" is inappropriate here, as I believe I'm the only conservative who has used that term. I do not use it in reference to "anyone who objects". I have no problem with thoughtful dissent. Those who chronically take the side of the enemy for clearly political reasons are, in my mind, traitors. If you are against this war but were supportive of Clinton's position with respect to Iraq, you are taking such a position either for political reasons or because you knew Clinton wouldn't stand behind his position, which makes the support stupid. My only complaint with dissent against the war is that some of the positions aren't very well thought out. I sometimes use the term "stupid" to refer to that situation. I believe the term fits. It is time for the liberals to either explain why their positions are inconsistent or to admit the political nature of their positions. The entire Hollywood Left is part of it, as NONE of these people were out protesting when Clinton was bombing the crap out of civilians in Kosovo. To me, dissenting for political purposes is an act of treason, because it is putting partisan politics before the national interest.
