Agustus--Indeed there was a turn near the end of Clinton's term. This was well known throughout the presidential campaign. What was Bush's plan during that campaign and what became his plan once in office? We're now 18 months from the next election and all I see is the cover of war. Meanwhile, every state capital, except Wyoming, is cutting back state budgets as federal funding dwindles, this while lots of people are wanting jobs.

Bush will not have a lot of support come the next election, without an ability to claim victory over Iraq and, if he can, the terrorists. With this notched under his belt he can then make the claim he'll deal with the US economy in his next term. That, it seems to me is his game plan. I just don't think innocents--both Iraqi and American--should die for such a policy.

<< The problem is if we do nothing and something happens 10 years from now we will have made yet another mistake. >>

If America makes the huge mistake, of not taking Saddam out, we won't have to wait 10 years to see large numbers of American casualties, in our cities. The only question is, when does America get hit next by a weapon of mass destruction, manufactured by Saddam, but claimed to be the doings of a different terrorist.
