turkey is stronger than iraq; turkey, syria and iraq occupy kurdistan- they do no want the kurds freed. turkey does not want iraqi kurds to go to turkey. turkey does not want turkish kurds to obtain independence encouraged by example of iraqi kurds. turkey does not want turkish kurds to seek to frm kurdistan with iraqi kurds. turkey does not want to lose money or people fighting iraq or kurds.

Good point. Jordan and Iran are also not scared of Saddam anymore. Kuwait was a target because of their oil. But we have bases there now. Kuwait is no longer threatened by Iraq. So if not their neighbors, who? Israel can defend itself and Saddam has few SCUDS left, if any. The more I think about it the more it comes back to the only big reason to go to war, for Bushie oil. And the rest is exaggeration, scare tactics or just BS. That said, my man Kerry wants Saddam disarmed too. But I know he'd go about it in a much smarter, less divisive way.

There might be no war. As much as Bush wants one. If Turkey is out and Tony Blair realizes he can't get re-elected if he backs Bush, the UN doesn't give Bush the go-ahead, and the US public is 60% against war without UN approval, then Bush, who cares about re-election even more than Iraq, may back down, especially if Saddam keeps disarming. Bush may also miss the winter weather window for attacking. He has to be concerned about the lives of our men fighting in 100 degree temperatures wearing haz-mat suits. Bush would need to save face somehow, but he may indeed figure out it's in his best interests not to go it almost alone. I could definitely see that coming unless we get more UN support.

You obviously have no idea of the mentality of the mideast "merchant".
