Karen!!! And America was glad to have them Not so, not by a long shot. The Irish met with terrible discrimination, (go see Gangs of New York) as did the Germans, the Scandinavians, Mexicans. The French are still getting grief. And God help Iraqis in this country. People were spit upon, beaten, robbed, killed until assimilated and a new group to hate came along. The Chinese who built the railroads weren't treated as well as slaves. And it's not true that everyone who came here was poor. Many were given lands by the king so they would come here and colonize this country.

KLP, I'll ignore the latter part of what you wrote as being both antagonistic and having nothing to do with my question.

However, as to your reply that you've never once heard Bush mention anything about what breeds terrorism, I agree with you. I've never heard him utter anything about. Don't you think this is an important element, and shouldn't our president be comprehensive and have some understanding as to what exactly breeds terrorism in his approach to solving this problem?
