A strong economy is the best way to win wars, we already know this from Vietnam and Russia. Spending huge amts of money on weapons and wars costs a lot and produces little. I'd rather spend the money on the space program.

I'm not sure how we can reduce the quest for nuclear weapons at this point in global history. We're so close to having scientific breaks that could allow people to live better but in the meantime we have to avoid killing off the planet. I wish we could create a technology that could, with the flip of a button, render all nukes useless. At least then we could give time and let cooler heads prevail before we make a continent hot for 10,000 years. The fallout from using a nuke goes so far beyond just the initial human loss of life that it really makes the weapon impractical. I wonder where we all plan to live if we decide to lob nukes at each other.
