No, not correct. Everything is a factor... but I tend to look for the best long-term solutions, and representative Democracy is - IMHO - a better, more stable, and more equitable, form of government that Authoritarian rule with inheritance (Monarchy). Backing whatever petty despot that promises to sling oil our way and keep the locals down (aka: the Shah of Iran... another good example) is just not a successful long-term strategy. One would think it's past time for us to have learned that by now.
