"I think within the confines of the way the Bush-Rove combine operates, you have just asked, you won't like this, a political question, not a foreign policy question."

Thats just a copout john--a way to avoid the question. With clinton it was the finger in the wind to determine policy. So what. When it comes to american lives, call me naive but our two most political presidents, clinton and bush, would act in the national interest. So forget Rove and cynical politics for a moment, someone should try to discover a third way--a way to avoid war without betraying our standing in the world or our allies. For instance during the Cuban MC, a way was found. War seemed imminent. We traded missiles in turkey for missiles in cuba but announced the former after the latter was completed. Perhaps the french can help with the compromise? mike
