Oh, sorry, I completely agree with that point of view. I should have made that clearer in my response. I just don't think the folk now running US foreign policy are yet at that point. I see two paths they are likely to take: full steam ahead or put Rove and Bush in a corner to deal with the political ramifications. Or both.

One of the few things of value I got from the book on Rove is that he and Bush are every bit as political as the Clinton folk. So, whatever one thinks of Bush, arguing that he's only doing "the right thing," when he does any sort of policy is well beyond naive.
