Karen,

Canadian attitudes about the French are complex. In Quebec France is still the mother country in many ways. In other parts of Canada, France has never been forgiven for DeGalle's "Vive la Quebec liberee" speech. The current events surrounding France are filtered and magnified by some very strong pre-existing biases.

Sale and Pelletier were screwed in an international committee vote when the Russian mob bought off a French judge. Seems to me that America should be able to empathize with them now. :o)
