I think there is some concern that the printer cash cow is about to catch a case of the Dells. If the rest of the company is losing money, any decline in profitability in printers will be difficult to replace.

True, but... I think HPQ really blew it by not restating all the other quarters with the same assumptions so fair comparisons could be made. The way they did it, it looks like they were hiding something or trying to make themselves look better than they are. I don't blame analysts for being on the alert and not forgiving as they've been hammered with Enron and WorldCon scams and don't want to make the same mistakes.

What is sad is they posted, as you say, the best operating profit in 2 years at 6.2%. This good news was ignored.

Who cares how they allocated the PC division's expenses?

Investors like transparency, frown on shell games.
