It perfectly follows my batty example. But.....we, as human beings, have been given the gift of communication. Of sharing on a scale as large as we want it to be. It makes our collective understanding much more potent. We, like every scorpion, don't start from scratch. And the scorpions don't have a chance in hell of creating a United States of Scorpions either. Now i know they may, like ants, have evolved, but the evolution is not as rapid and exhaustive. And besides, even if it understands as much, its not in a position to do anything much about it. Gore invented internet for humans, not for scoprions. As such I reaffirm that humans are in a stronger position to destroy or restore this earth and the balance it seeks. And this is the learned, rational understanding i meant to highlight. Not the insinctive feelings that unite us as humans. Our understandings differ because of man made conditions, as do our priorities and beliefs. Most animals and birds have the same set of priorities...but we, as humans, have chosen to diverge from the norm and fiddle with nature. The responsibility of maintaining the balance of nature, is ours and ours alone. The most the rest of the species should have to do, must be to go about being themselves, but in reality they carry a higher burden of survival than they really should... Its funny, last night i was talking to this guy and i talked about democracy vs monarchy. I mean we all instinctively know that democracy is the right system, but a strange thought occurred to me. Capitalism is the basis of democracy. Individual rights are the cornerstone. But in addition to these, democracy assumes that human beings are capable of fulfilling their responsibilities - and the assumption has its roots in communism - it more or less contradicts the theory of capitalism. And i was struck by the fact that human nature is so self serving that we all fight for our rights, and we have laws and courts to protect our rights, but the other part of the equation, our responsibilities towards the civic society are left to individual choice. No wonder the world is going beserk! In a monarchy <and I talk about a rational, benevolent monarch> there is a person to enforce both sides of the scale, so the world can find a balance.... I had a religious and cultural explanation to further my theory, but....I digress....and i don't even know what i was talking about earlier....but thats ok. Every thang's gonna be all right ! <g> <<<on the subject of understanding...understanding is not a tangible thing. it is not necessary that it be based on morality, or logic or language or mathematics. it's just a feeling. all that is required to experience the feeling of understanding is consciousness and acceptance. mankind has no solitary claim to either>>> The kind of rational, collective understanding i talked about - i think mankind does have solitary claim on it. <<<a scorpion doesn't ALWAYS sting. it stings based on it's understanding of when it is necessary to sting. i live in scorpion territory. i don't see any going around here stinging pre-emptively.>>> Yeah, well, if the scorpion starting tap dancing and wagging its tail instead of stinging when it should....the world would lose its balance. I'd freak out !<g> Besides, the bees preempt. I was bitten twice just walking past my driveway last year.....i didn't even know there was a beehive there! <<<when i was in college i shared a large house with a friend.....>>> Beautiful Story. Thanx for sharing it. I got what she was thinking about, but i won't tell you. <g>
