You gotta love it. I remember when I first moved to Oregon from Florida. I stayed with some friends until I was able to find a place of my own. Outside of Portland, Oregon is a very rural place. Mostly farm land. I spoke and dressed differently than everyone else and I seemed to be the only one in the area who didn't drive a Ford. Anyway, soon after I arrive I'm changing the oil in my car and one of the neighbors comes out with his young son and asks me what I'm doing. I tell him just routine maintenance after diving across the country. He asks me if I need any tools. I say no, I'm almost done. So he turns around to go back into the house. Just then his son, who is still too young to make up lies, says "My daddy says you're a dumb shit foreigner and he wishes you'd git out." Was never sure if his dad heard him say that but I think he did. No matter, a few days latter I found a place to live in the city. But how often do you ever get to know what people really think?
