Two schools of thought:

1. Ditto what you said. That's where my money is.

2. The more sure they are we are going, the stronger they
resist. In their mind, this:

- gets rid of the problem
- protects themselves from terrorist attacks
- prevents them from the risks of military action

Weasels either way.

At one point it was discussed that we, the US, would ensure that the Iraqi's honored any agreements they had with Russia. Unfortunatley, we cannot. A new government in Iraq could easily declare that any agreements made by Saddam would be null and void. Moreover, our insistance on such an arrangement could be seen as overly meddlesome when Saddam is gone. Only time will tell.

So, what is the US going to do if they "find things"? Maybe you don't understand it, but the US economy is being kept afloat because of several billion dollars that keeps coming in from abroad every day.

<<The current French president was IN IRAQ right after the Israelis blew up his NUKE PLANT which the French built>>

Reagan and Thatcher condemned that Israeli attack on Iraq. We were supplying them too back then. Here's what they had to say about it:

"Armed attack in such circumstances cannot be justified. It represents a grave breach of international law." - Margaret Thatcher

"The means Israel chose to quiet its fears have hurt, not helped, the peace and security of the area" - Jeane Kirkpatrick

Kirkpatrick also called it "shocking" and compared it to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
