OK. I'm going to quit badgering you now.

What, and end the fun??

But it really frosts me that someone would suggest that we need more
evangelicals in the newsroom without any indiction how that would improve
the product.

Well, I suppose the theory is that having a balance of biases in the newsroom will lead to a more balanced product in the end than having just a subset of the range of biases. I mean, evangalicalism is nearly half the population, according to that article.

Now, let's look at another half of the population -- women. In theory, it shouldn't matter whether a man or a woman writes a story. Right? The facts are the facts. So in theory, if a newspaper had a hundred male reporters and no female reporters, it would be wrong to assume that they couldn't put out an excellent product, right? You don't need any women because the idea that there is a "woman's viewpoint" is inimical to the basic principle of journalistic objectivity. But I think instinctively we all sense that a newspaper with some women on its staff is going to give out a more balanced product than one with all men, even if you can't quantify exactly how.
