I consider facing up to the consequences of one's actions a greater priority. I think it was very smart to say only Congress can declare war. But it was incomplete. I think there is something wrong with declaring that other people should go and die without directly contributing to that cause yourself. Don't you?

If it was practical, I'd say the Congressmen themself should relocate to near war torn areas. But that is not possible. So I took the next best thing. Do you think for example that Viet Nam would have gone on as long or in the same manner if Kennedy family, or Nixon's or sons of every governor would have had to be among the draftees in the front line?

There is something wrong with me declaring that you should fight, while I sit thousands of miles away from danger and horrors of my decision. If I believe in it, then I should directly contribute to it.
