I have not said anything about the people of Iraq.

This is what I have said:

Not only is eliminating Saddam not going to weaken Al-Qaeda one bit, but there will be serious backlash and recruitment into anti-American terrorist groups as a result.

And that is the best case scenario. A worse case scenario could be if the invasion of Iraq takes longer, and sheds more blood, than expected and serves to unite the loonies of this planet against Americans, on which they declare open season.
