Bush's incomprehension of foreign viewpoints is simple. He grew up on a huge ranch in Texas and has never had the slightest interest or inclination in seeing what other cultures or civilizations were all about, or what he might possibly learn from them. How could anyone have expected such a man to have other than a visceral 'patriotic American' response? Unlike our former Rhodes Scholar president, he never went abroad for any educational purpose. If the American people want to elect a troglodyte to the nation's highest office, they get the man they deserve.
