Go study other imperial empires like the British Mr. Smartypants. Then, you'll understand why the U.S. military is so engaged in the world. The militarty protects our economic interests. It's called an empire and it's also known as imperialism.

Er... we do have more military bases scattered around the world (in over 122 countries) than anyone else.

We do seem to be sliding into the role of 'world policeman'.

We are a certified nuclear Super Power (even the Romans never dreamed of such power).

It's not exactly structured like the Roman Empire... but than this is the 21st. century, not the first.

One should expect some differences.
