It certainly is an article that lays out the complexities of this administration and what is worse is the change in attitude of Bush from the election debate by going a full 180° on his ideas of a humble nation to an arrogant nation. During his time in office he has repeatedly described others in a negative light only to portray a self image. Strange man. The question is , is this the real GWB, is he being lead around by the nose, or is he walking the plank with sabers at his back. In any case I think he will get the deep six when all is done. As per usual, you can’t judge any of them by what they say, only by their actions. Powell comes as somewhat of a surprise to me. The description of him as being a pragmatist could be best rendered down to a couple of meaning of the word as meddlesome and interfering. Is he the tiger who got his first last of blood (1991)? Which of coarse pretty much sums up the whole lot of them. It’s hard to fathom what they are really thinking. This reminds me of a line from the movie “Blame it on Rio” where a waiter says, “When a man is not thinking of what he is doing, it’s because he is doing what he is thinking”. It seem they are so embroiled in this conquest that they are not paying much attention to the consequences. There is nothing learned here from the “Hopi Indians” who planned for seven generations ahead. It makes me wonder what these people really fear. Is it the fear of not totally dominating the world? Is that fear born out of the miserable foreign policy the US has subject the world to for the past 50 years? The “Ugly American“ syndrome? It is a well known and obvious fact that the US is disliked throughout most of the world. Is this the fear, the fear that if they do not hold the upper hand, it’s all going to come back and get them? It not unlike the schoolyard bully who has been taking the little kids lunches for years, and now those little kids have grown up. Not much us individual can do about it other then protest en masse.
