My dad was in ww1... Canadian navy,, was right next to the ship that exploded in Halifax Harbor and took out half the city.. His two brothers were also on his ship.. One got blown from one end the ship to the other end... Always walked humped over after that incident.. The other two were below.. My dad said they came top side it looked like the city was gone.

Young Welsh lads had two choices, work in the coal mines or join the army. My late father in law chose the army. He was at one time, the light weight boxing champion of the British Army. He and I got on very well fortunately when I was courting his daughter.
