Yes. That was my argument. However, once the word became politically agendized, it no applies in general society.

Similar to the five year old who gets labeled a 'cry baby.' If this is picked up by the peer group, the bully knows that the label will may have an effect when he threatens a prey with it.

Some members of adult society are more afraid of being labeled 'intolerant' than whether or not behavior is harmful or destructive vs merely unusual. These are the same types that fall prey to bullying as five year olds.
