Sorry, Randy, but both France and Russia have entered into contracts with Saddam's government in anticipation of lifting of sanctions and France has sold him weapons parts for his military in the last few months. What do you call that if not "support?" Now, under the pretense of balancing US "cowboy imperialism" they proclaim they will veto any resolution calling for use of force - period. They are protecting Saddam, plain and simple. They had hoped that sanctions would be lifted by now and if they succeed in keeping him in power they will surely push for lifting them the first chance they get.

<< They don't support Saddam Hussein, but rather feel very strongly that this is not the time to attack. >>

Randy they do support Saddam. How can you deny this? It's like saying the earth is flat. I'm incredulous that you do not know that chirac, the 'leader' of France, has been a personal friend of Saddam for more than 30 yrs. France built a nuc plant for him so he could derive weapons-grade plutonium from it.

Thank God the Israelis bombed it. (One of the brave Israeli pilots who carried out that heroic mission died Feb 1 on the Columbia Space shuttle.)

The french supply Iraq with all kinds of weaponry, including the bio and chemical type. They know he executes his own people, they know saddam is a serial killer, yet they still support and condone his terror.

The french also pay him a lot of money for iraqi oil. Randy, did you know that the french petro co, Total Fina, was formed just to drill and export oil from Iraq? The french support and condone the terror of Saddam Hussein. They profit from it; and this is the way they like it.

The geramns also provide all types of weaponry to Saddam, supporting and conding his rule. They get money from him, what's not to like? With the entire country of germany teetering on bankruptcy, they love saddam's money. Who cares if he tortures and executes his political enemies ? Hey china does it- why not iraq?

Ad russia gets a lot of oil revenue from iraq too. Besides russia is busy killing half the people of chechynia - they need an excuse too. Just like france does for waging war ont he people of the ivory coast - France can have it's colonization efforts continue in the 21st century ?! What a backward country chirac leads.

<<They'd rather not have to attack, and would rather try to aggressively pursue disarmament through non-military routes, giving more time and money to inspections. >>

Inspections are ineffective with saddam. Hans Blix has pretty much said so. And he's not the toughest weapons inspections chief available. He was fooled in 1998 by the Iraqis, and then they kicked him out. You think this is an effective or meaningful way to deal with this terroist?
