Couldn't have. Troops and gear were not in place, not enough anyway.

I think we could have had a big enough force to do it by October, but it's all "Woulda, coulda, shoulda," now. So Iraq will be liberated by this time next month, as near as I can figure it.

BTW, Steve, I never responded to a post you made to FL about a week ago that really pissed me off. It was about the people on this thread that were taking pleasure from the coming Iraqi Liberation, and that we had never been in blood up to our armpits and didn't know what we were talking about. Someone else pointed me out here as the thread "SuperHawk," so I figure I am the one to respond.

When 911 hit, and the shock wore off, I realized that I believed it happened in large part because we had been too weak. As the picture of what the Administration planned to do emerged, I was happy to see they felt the same way and were planning to take a world wide approach to getting the Terrorists, those that harbored them, and Rogue States that threatened us. No more Lebanon, Somalia, the "Cole" the Embassy bombings, etc. No more being laughed at as we ran with our tail between our legs.

So my attitude here has been very positive and "Rah, Rah" toward what has been done, and what is planned. If posters here want to consider me "Bloodthirsty," so be it.

I understand that others looked at the same events and came to an opposite conclusion. I think they are wrong, but I don't call them "Traitors" for disagreeing with me. And I expect them to understand I come by my conclusions honestly also.

When I walked into "Coconut Willies" to dance tonight, the place was "wall to wall" Sailors off the "Nimitz," which came into port today. Very unusual, they usually hang out at the bars on Kuhio.

As I looked around the room at these young men, I thought, "Bill, you are advocating putting these guys in Harm's way. Is that the right thing to do?" And I thought, "Yes, it is. We have to settle these issues now, or they will come back and bite us in the ass for the rest of our lives."
