Sharp, I doubt that Bush has much choice. He has painted himself into a corner here. If he goes in, it will unleash a enormous amount of protest around the world. If he backs off, he will enrage the right-wing of his party and he will be saddled with the same nickname that brought down his old man.....WIMP.

Do you really see him bringing back a quarter of a million troops with their tail between their legs and Saddam still sneering at us? I doubt that they will simply wait in Kuwait with the desert heat cranking up in a few weeks. When Kissinger was asked on Larry King last night whether there is any chance to avoid war, he answered "None".
