I'm sure humans have evolved in 5000 years but mentally and emotionally we haven't changed a lot. The changes are minor except those brought about by changes in culture and our external circumstances. Now if you change it to tens or hundreds of thousands of years, I'm quite sure that the evolution has been significant in this and other areas. Neandethals or even homo sapiens from 50,000 years ago, may have had different mental and emotional abilities and tendencies beyond those caused by cultural and other external sources, but it is my opinion that 1000 year ago or even 5 to 10,000 years ago, man was not very differnt in this area.
