I've read about the Administration's energy policy. There are parts of it I like. But when you add it all up, it doesn't sum to anything that has a chance of true Energy Independence. Not anytime soon (next 20 years), anyway. As a crucial part of our national security (and to knock the legs out from under a dozen un-democratic states standing on oceans of oil), we need a much more ambitious program than that.

Look at the disparity of effort. We spend $100B, just this year alone, to garrison the ME oil fields. We spend a tiny fraction of that amount, to develop secure and permanent energy sources.
