I think the critics should be arguing for that plan instead
harping on the oil issues. IMO, That might work.

I do think the US is keeping key intelligence from Blix so he won't find much wmd. It is probably all underground now
probably under his made-man palace lakes and/or in the northeastern and northwestern borders.

I agree with you, Win-Lose. Exactly what John Kerry thinks too. Wish you weren't so against him. I expect he'll be nominated so maybe you'll change your mind in 2004. Wonder if Buchanon will run again. He's really making a move to attack Bushies now.

turn the no-fly zones into no-cross zones and flood the remainder of iraq with inspectors + armed escorts. let the blue-hats occupy the place for six months and literally turn over every rock there is.

That's simply an occupation without a war. Nice plan but for one thing. Saddam ain't gonna go for it. The only reason he has made ANY movement at all toward cooperating with the UN is because the US has 5 aircraft carriers parked off his coast and several divisions warming up a few hundred yards from his border.

And the simple fact is we don't have either the military man-power or the money to keep that level of force concentration on the scene indefinitely.

Problem there is that the "blue hats" of the UN run around UNARMED for fear of appearing confrontational.

Your plan won't work. Saddam is playing a game that children play. He is pushing his "bad behaviour" to the limit that he can get away with. When he is threatened with punishment, he backs off. The massive US/UK troop buildup has brought partial cooperation. What do you think happens if those troops go home.

How difficult for NK to get a nuke to him? Then we either have to leave him alone or go for a much bloodier war.

Saddam laughs at UN inspectors. The only thing he respects is military threat. That is the only thing that has ever produced results from Saddam.

This talk of Iraqi resistance and loads of suicide bombers and fighting in urban areas is BS. It will just be one massive surrender after another. If Baghdad proves tricky/risky then just sit outside it. At least you only have the expense of containing a city and not a whole country. Baghdad is pretty much empty now anyway.

That MOAB display was dumb. You have a world of people critical of US war plans so they go and show off a massive bomb that will do exactly what people are concerned about - mass killing. Won't make the slightest difference to Iraqi morale, they don't want to fight anyway. Whether it is a 21,000 pound MOAB or a 15,000 lb Daisy cutter is hardly relevant.
