The main problem with GMO crops are the fact they require more supplementation to grow, i.e. they are more susceptible to disease and weed encumbrance. The chemicals they require as supplements definitely pose a problem to wildlife and water aquifers.

Last year they did some toxicology studies on deer that feed near a chemical pail dump and these animals were basically toxic. A lot of birth defects are showing up in families of farmers that rely heavily on crop chemicals. The new thing that is being promoted right now is chemical summer fallowing. I would rather pay five times as much for bread or pasta than have to see another spray buggy as wide as a football field followed down a dirt road with a semi truck loaded with vats of toxic chemicals.
