Afghanistan is IMHO a much tougher nut to crack then IRAQ will be: 1. Afghan is poor in resources/ Iraq is rich in oil. Money is what makes the world go around 3. Afhan has MANY War Lords, each JEALOUSLY guarding HIS territory, far as I know Iraq has only 3 large groups. Kurds in the North, Shites in the south and Sunnis in the middle. 4. Afghan has a crop (opium) that supplies much of their cash to these warlords and its something that eventually we just GOT to do away with. That isnt going to go down well unless we can come up with something of equal value to replace it with. Iraq has none of these problems. 5. The Iraqui people, on average are better educated then the Afghan people. Better base to start with. jdn
