The Security Council is considering options and is perhaps waiting for something to come out of the Bush meeting in the Azores, where it is likely the British and Spanish prime ministers will demand a way out of this mess without resorting to war. It's now clear that the administration can't get nine votes in the Security Council. To save face, Bush will have to come up with something in the Azores, but whatever it is, I doubt that it will be to start a full scale war. To start a war at this time would mean getting little or no support, either political, military, or economic, from allies. Bush has gambled and lost.

Then f**k the Security Council and the UN with it. It is not going to have to do the heavy lifting in any case and it knows it. Have you noticed who gets called when there is dirty work to be done? USA, UK, Canada, Australia, ....

If the UNSC wants this done its way it can d**n well raise and pay for the military force to do it its way. Otherwise it gets done our way. With or without the UN's "permission". The US never ceded its warmaking authority to the UN and never will for precisely the reasons apparent here.

Next time the Germans come goose stepping through that meaningless slum you live in, don't call us, OK?

All the UN is is a meaningless debating society. It just provides a forum for 3rd rate failures to prick and prod the nations they envy so much.
