I'm not sure any authority would be enough here. I'm not a big fan of arguments by authority. They worked best in highly religious homogenous and religious societies where people claimed something was right because God said it is. In our more secular and diverse society this doesn't work well and the Supreme Court can't take the place of God. The SC can decide policy and make rulings on law but it only determines what the legal regime will be it doesn't determine truth.

I might accept something like "this was the decision of a great legal mind so you should pay attention to it". But I don't accept it as automatic truth or something that would cause me to throw aside all the problems with the decision.
