"Anyone who wants to use nature as his guide to make social arguments should use the whole picture and not just the violence part."

True.

"In societies where the people's basic needs are met and there is no artificial marketing machine to make them thirst for more or fan the flames of hatred, peace and compassion rule supreme."

But our needs are never, there is alway desire for something, envy, greed, pride, jealousy, etc. This is what creates conflict, our human nature. You can have everything in life and still have no satisfaction. I can't explain why, it's just my observation.

there is good evidence that they [Homo Sapiens] had compassion and cared for their disabled members (even if they were permanently disabled and could not return the favor) and that they believed in after life

Sun Tzu - Could you point me in the direction of this evidence? I would be interested to learn more about this.

I did not realize our understanding of the 15-16 extinct species of humans were so good as to include an insight into their caring for the disabled and belief in afterlife.

By the way, I remember reading in several sources that one widely respected theory about Neanderthals going extinct is that our ancestors exterminated them. Does this fit in with your point that the more caring of the two species survived?
