This is mostly correct, the only thing I take issue with is that in order for Gore to have won, the manual count by Palm Beach officals would have needed to been thrown out and substituted with a count from the media.

Actually... the results of the media-run comprehensive recount process proved that neither side was very prescient in their legal strategies (because, in both cases, what they were arguing for would have actually benefited their opponent!:) Out of dozens of recounts, even by the liberal left, every one showed President Bush the winner. Using the gore type vote count Pres. Bush won by even more votes than the official count. Even the NY Times, their count as well as many others was supervised for accuracy, conceded these facts. Ken
