This is all about France and its own aspirations with respect to its position in the EU and the world; NOT about any true opposition to the removal of Saddam. True, they have financial interests in Iraq. But the real motivation is related to their discomfort with having the U.S. as a sole superpower.

IMHO.

France may be surprised by how far out of line they got. I doubt they really intended weakening the single institution that gives France statue way above its real stature.
