"You have extinguished your moral beacon,. . ."

But condors reference to tianamen square didnt upset you? Nothing is wrong with the above statement. I, for one, lost all respect for condor with her post this morning. JC was right to say that. mike

JohnM,

I get your point, but not the message. When you said Here's what I have in mind: I kind of expected a reword of my statement, but received a repeat.

What I said:

You have extinguished your moral beacon, as have the French by never producing or arguing the case of the Iraqi people

Perhaps this would have been be fairer:

It could easily be argued that those opposing war have extinguished their moral beacon by never producing or arguing the case of the Iraqi people

Fair enough?

John

how about going easy on the personal condemnations of thread members. Arguments, yes; personal attacks, no.

It seems to me that Condor initiated the exchange by making a slanderous attack on the motives of Bush, as "filtered" through Condor's perception of the issue.

Thus, it sure be pertinent to state that if Condor perceives things differently than Bush, then it is acceptable to argue that Condor is guilty of the same behavior that he claims of Bush (and the rest of us who happen to agree with Bush)...

That personal attack was not just against Bush, but everyone who shares the same logic. Thus, Condor implicitly accused all individuals sharing the same beliefs as Bush, as having "extinguished their moral beacon"..

Especially since it's ludicrous to believe Bush is engaging in the same behavior as we saw at Tiananmen Square.. There is just NO moral, or physical, equivalency..

What a shame... too many people can dish out criticism, but refuse to take any back in return.
