Warp, Chirac doesn't have much of a choice. I read in a French newspaper (English version) that Chirac received some of his financial backing, in his rise to power, from Iraq. He has been bought and paid for by Iraqi money, according to the news reports I read. Additionally, France has some very sweet business deals with Iraq in the event sanctions were ever lifted. Business deals that our country probably couldn't and wouldn't sanction. France is acting in their own best financial interests. They took a chance backing the underdog and now they will find out if the risk will pay off. France was in a win-win situation. They could come out a hero if they were able to prevent us from attacking Iraq, and we will still trade and do business with them, even if they were wrong in opposing us. I don't support their approach, but I can see where they were coming from. dabum
