France has managed to outplay their hand. A good diplomat(like Bush1) would have stuffed France on the sidelines from the get go by offering real dialogue to the Europeans. James Baker was flying all over the world selling his plan, creating coalitions getting his elbows into the grease. Colin Powell this time was handcuffed by Rumsfeld & Cheney. These neocons don't give crap about allies. These guys EVEN SNEER AT TONY BLAIR(for forcing Bush to give the Palestine speech). BUSH1 actually created the Oslo accords. It's a joke. These guys are AMATEURS. Don't buy the hard right BS. There are a lot of moderate Republicans/conservative Democrats who are embarrassed by Bush2. YOU CAN BE HAWKISH & STILL THINK THIS GROUP IS MOVING US IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. Bush1 was a master at keeping the hardright in check. Bush2 is in their pocket. Treating our allies with respect is a big deal. Bush1 knew it. Bush2 is a puppet.
