Here is a Jewish source about the Jews who were around at the time: jewishpeople.net My memory is hazy on the details, but in summary, Mohammed allied himself with Jews at first but then saw them as a threat to his person as well as his religion's conquest of the pagans. There was a treaty between Mohammed and the Jewish tribes, which he then accused them of breaking. There were several attempts on his life at this time, attributed directly to Jews or to Jewish influence. There are numerous references on the net to these events, although allowances need to be made for their respective biases. The do agree, however, to the hostilities between Jews & Mohammed, his belief that they tried to kill him, and his subsequent conquest of Jewish tribes one by one. I would be interested to. Do you have a link? You mght want to do a paper on why the Arabs continue to grab defeat from the jaw of victory. That does not sound like an objective title for an academic paper. You need to work on your understanding of "racial", "cultural", and "ethnic." Happy to. Would you define them so I may have a point of reference for future posts? However, I doubt if I used the word "racial" in an incorrect context in my reference to "a strange concept of their [Jews'] racial superiority". The references were to how much more intelligent Jews are to the rest of humanity, as evidenced by number of acclaimed Jewish scientists, and especially Jewish Nobel Prize winners. Or about how they should take care not to marry a non-Jew so as not to dilute their precious gene pool of superior characteristics. Or about how Jewish women are really pretty and Jewish men are really handsome (true in most cases, actually :-) and that is proof that they should preserve the Jewish line. Now, I hope this comment will not be taken as "reckless, inflammatory, and stupid". Jews are a scholarly people. And "all Arabs are bloodthirsty thugs". Right. Message 18712373 Such generalisations do not help your position, Cary. The study of the law, Torah and Talmud, has been the highest calling. Just like among Arabs, who feel the study of the Quran is the highest calling. Do you know what "hafez" means? It is someone who can recite the Quran from memory, someone who has memorized it cover to cover. There are countless hafez in every Muslim town, even in Muslim communities in Europe. So, religious people tend to feel studying their holy book is a worthwhile occupation to spend their time. And your point was...? Contrast this with the generally low interest in things intellectual among most peoples in most countries. I don't know which countries you have lived in, but this statement is woefully wrong.
