RE: "If you are really claiming there were no Jews around at the time?"

I have no basis for making such a claim, but the reference you provided seems to discredit itself.

RE: "It couldn't be correlated highly to average financial position?"

You have a chicken and egg situation here. Most Jews came to NYC between 1880 and 1920. They generally came without resources and education. For most families, education preceded wealth.

RE: "Would you care to give an example of a country where the people, in your opinion, have low interest in "things intellectual"?"

I have only lived in the US. I believe the US is a good example. I wonder if you have witnessed "reality TV"?

RE: "You, however, said "all Arabs are bloodthirsty thugs"."

I attributed to the Commission of Inquiry a desire to condemn Sharon because he should have known that "all Arabs are bloodthirsty thugs". This was obviously in the context of sending an army into an enemy's refugee camp. Certainly, I don't believe that Arab women and childen are "bloodthirsty thugs." I know that "all" is highly unlikely to be correct. In fact, there might be an Arab army that aren't "bloodthirsty thugs." Of course, Sharon should have operated on my "all" assertion.
