I think it would have been safer for the soldiers if they had waited till the bombing had been completed. Even the military experts on TV were surprised that their plan had been changed. the foot soldiers started the invasion at the same time that the bombing started.

Their plans were thwarted because of the early bombing of Saddam's palace when the White House tried to take out Saddam. Since they had played their hand they had to start the shock and Awe simultaneously with the foot soldiers................they ran for the oil wells.

Normally, the soldiers wait till the bombing softens up the theatre .
