The sector has been completely abandoned.

You might like to check the peoplemarks.

Or was that just modesty ?

:-)

Roughly what proportion of those popular threads are daytrading threads? I would guess a lot of them are. I know that normally most of the top Peoplemarks are pump 'n' dump daytrading artists.

Rick; I thought that I might try to share my thoughts about the relative unpopularity of biotech threads. But you need to know first, that while I am fascinated by physics and wave theory, I darn near failed chemistry in high school, took the early chemistry courses in college twice to either barely pass or get an I while keeping my GPA up with everything else.

My eyes, which want to read the QCOM board all night, glaze over when I try to get involved in any of the biotechs. Except for something new which you did the other day which made VPHM stand out for me. You personalized the management and I have found myself reading up on them and know a bunch of their products now, can actually read the board and look forward to more.

And then there is one more thing which I think you strive to avoid, and yet there is a lot of esoteric phraseology and abbreviations which I have forced myself to learn as much as possible. Most people will give up, but I have been sludging through the biotech threads for over a year (perhaps 10 of them) until now I comprehend a small part. Yet there are quite a few slangs used, AC comes to mind, which I think I probably know what you mean, and yet am guessing. (The committee which recommends to the FCC what action should be taken with regard to a particular drug or application?). And some people are just about totally incomprehensible to me. Cacaito is apparently a wonderful guy to know and to listen to, but most of the time I don't know what he just said--or maybe it is that I don't know whether that was supposed to be a joke or I should seriously consider his words. I mentioned that particular problem at one point and was kindly directed to some understanding of his orientation and I've not heard much from him of late.

I want to own good, honest, hard working companies in the biotech sector. You have demonstrated your interest in the same type of company plus have indicated a much greater understanding of the chemistry, though I've never been able to understand why you displayed so much interest in the mechanics of trading VPHM and short interest and such. I keep looking to see the evidence of collusion which you seem to see, and keep missing it (though lack of interest has not helped in that regard).

Rest assured that I appreciate your posts. I have been in similar situations in companies and fields I know more about and become the dominant poster. The most notorious of those is very near bankruptcy, and so I would rather not advertise it at the moment. And for involvement, perhaps posts like the ones you wrote to me on the VPHM board would get more posters out of the woodwork. But then I would not dare talk about drugs or FCC or even scientific procedure (even though the chemistry frustrations led to a revised major of psychology and all the statistics and trialling courses that involved). You are too far ahead of me. Sorry. I like your posts more than many others, however, because you frequently give me a hint of how you feel about a particular "fact, drug, person, situation, etc" and that allows me to tie into it. I can't think of an example now, but you almost always have a little conclusion or observation at the end or beginning of your post which says a lot to me. Heck, there's and example right below me in the post to which I'm responding. You said "This is a very good thing or a very bad thing". I get something out of that.

Best regards, Lance

>>There are ZERO biotech threads among them.<<

I suspect that the "most bookmarked" numbers are somewhat stale - dominated by people who bookmarked threads at the heyday of SI and are long since departed.

Where is this feature for the "New SI" anyhow? (I can't seem to find it any more.)

Peter

P.S. Hate the colors - I find the light blue-grey on white barely legible.
