Takes me back to the day CBS broke the story about 'Operation Shock and Awe' and gave an unidentified Pentagon biggie comment that "He thought the Shock and Awe operation concept of beating the enemy was total BS" (they said he used a phrase that could not be quoted(that is the "BS" part.) The ex-General(missed his name) said on questioning that YES more troops would be appreciated. We are getting down to the hard test of Rummy's low troops, high tech and Shock and Awe bombing brings a quick fast victory. Remember Rummy's arch-rightwing advisor had advertized we will win WITHOUT firing a shot; and Rumsfeld has pushed that super easy view all last week. And now Bush all this weekend is saying to expect this to be hard and of length. Was listening to one honest speaking field commander saying they have a lot of 18-21 year old Marines, they are now confronted with real resistance and this is hard and they are tired. This is real war, fatigue, adrenaline, trying to catch a moments rest , get some food, take a leak and having people around with one purpose is kill you and your purpose to kill them. As in "Jarhead" it says, they are not thinking about G-d and country now(nor before), they know who they are, they are warriors fighting warriors, they more often pray for LUCK than to G-d, they are thinking how do they get out of this alive and they know their enemy is thinking the SAME thing. You can NOT capture this on TV!!!!, TV makes this look like an action movie, a , hey what a wild virtual reality game, this is much better than the 'Survivor show'! I , going into this had grave doubts about what the hell we were walking are troops into, we will see, but i thus far see this playing out in a manner that the other Pentagon fellow said regards the PLAN "It's BS". BTW, the 101st Airborne soldier that threw 2 grenades into the tent of his own mates is now being identified as a U.S. Muslim bitter and angry at this war--so in effect he was a terrorist. O yes, the Bush administration in their Budget estimate did NOT include the costs of this war, saying it was uncertain as to amount. Max
