This is kind of OT: Back when I was at the young age of 20 or so, I was a very patriotic citizen. Even now I really have respect for the troops and other individuals who may sacrifice for this nation. But; as an aside from this current thread argument: For two hours this AM the Defense Dept issued statements that a UK aircraft was not shot down by a missile in/near Kuwait. Two hours later the DOD indicated that a UK aircraft was brought down by a US patriot missile. Which is true? That kind of un-truth is crap I have a serious problem with. Got a very dim outlook for the credibility of our leaders; since we continue to get constant misinformation and streaming outright propaganda by the "responsible" officials; just a little bit of proof of some accusations and a teensy substantiation of made claims would go a long way to convince me to be more keenly patriotic. One minute the embedded media say they can not divulge where they broadcast from; and the next we are told the troops find a WMD site 90 miles from Bagdad. Where is the uniform level of reporting the truth? What is the difference in the level of accuracy of facts reported to the US citizen by the DOD; as compared to the completely "accurate and timely" info as provided by the Dept. of Treasury; or the Federal Reserve? If they want me to believe the site is a WMD location; then send in Blix and company to substantiate the facts for the U.N. NOW, TONIGHT! What is the difference between a showing of The Longest Day or Private Ryan and a truly factual war correspondence report without innuendo or heresay? I think I can handle the truth. I have no respect for unproven heresay and I have had too much of it lately. I suppose I really would want to know just exactly what oil deal did Saddam renege on, before Bush Sr. was President (NG). Just do not get the Bush family angry at you.

An aside from the above: Anybody wonder where the Iraqi gold reserves are? Wonder how long it will take JPM to get their mitts on it? Might be a couple more years before we see POG on the uptick?
